African American Literature

Create a 7-10 slide/page presentation after choosing one (1) of the following projects topics:
Create a MS Power Point on or other presentation, Introduction to African American Literature, in which you introduce and present all of the Literary Periods in African American Literature studied in this course. For each period, create a slide that defines the period and highlights/mentions prominent writers and their contributions to each period. You should have a slide for each period in addition to an introductory slide. Include important information such as dates, titles, prominent figures, outcomes, etc.
Create a MS Power Point on or other presentation on a single ERA in African American Litereature, in which you give detailed information on the period and cover at least 4 writers from that period (a slide for each writer with an introduction to the period slide). Focus on memorable titles and words of each author and tell how they most contribute to the literary canon of AA Lit.
Create a MS Power Point on or other presentation, on a single writer from the course that we have studied. You may choose from the following:

Your entire presentation will be about a single person/writer from the list; you should focus on their (1) beginnings/family, (2) work/titles/contributions, (3) themes/subject of their work (4) awards/achievements (5), etc.

USE THE TEXTBOOK TO HELP & ANY RESOURCES USED IN THE COURSE.YOU MAY ALSO USE ADDITIONAL RESOURCES. CITE SOURCES THROUGHOUT THE PRESENTATION. SEE PROPER MLA FORMAT & RULES FOR DOING SO. Rather than write in paragraphs, write in bullets/list formats for slides.

Design and Graphical Images
Use design templates to create a consistent and simple design
Standardize position, colors, and styles; use colors that contrast/compliment.
Include only necessary info; simplify/limit number of words on each slide
Keep the background consistent and subtle
Limit punctuation; avoid using ALL CAPS/capital letters
Be creative, concise
Follow all guidelines below
The Final Presentations must be in MLA style & format. It is worth 15 points and is 15% of your Final Grade. Sources must used and cited parenthetically and properly when referred to via quoting (directly or indirectly), paraphrasing, or summarizing from the textbook. Outside sources are not required but can be used.
1 TITLE SLIDE (Your Name, Class, Virginia State University, Year)
1 INTRODUCTORY SLIDE (Purpose/pose research questions)
4-5 CONTENT SLIDES (Focus on Answering Questions/Fulfilling Assignment Purpose)
1 CONCLUSION SLIDE (Close out the presentation; be futuristic)
1 WORKS CITED SLIDE (Use MLA format; you may single space in presentation)
You may refer to any of your papers and use information from papers in your presentation.
