Being passive aggressive can lead to many miscommunications because instead of being direct and honest you are always hiding the way you feel and think. For example, say you and your significant other get into a disagreement and instead of letting your partner know that they upset or hurt your feelings they will give you the cold shoulder so it causes an even bigger problem.
Informative function of language is used to make statements that are either false or true. We use it when we are putting together reports or assignments that we need facts for. Informative language can also be used when you are selling something like shoes or a pair of shorts and someone asks what they look like and you give them a description of the object you are selling.
A euphemism can be used to change someone else’s thinking by changing a negative term into a more positive term. Whenever someone dies instead of saying I am sorry they are dead you would say I am sorry for your loss or I am sorry they passed away.
The role of emotions in critical thinking is to help us have good reasoning to be able to critical think we need to understand and recognize our emotions and the people around us emotions. Emotions can also enhance the way we critical think by motivating us to make better decisions. The role of emotional intelligence is to help us have a better understanding of emotions in general and by doing so it positively affects our reasoning ability.

Passive communication is when someone puts others needs first above their own. I know this communication style all to well. I used to only rely on passive communication all the time. I had the thoughts in my mind that if I just put the needs of that person in front of my own then that person would like me, and I would avoid and confrontation. Being a passive communicator can lead to a lot of miscommunication issues. One issue of miscommunication related to passive communication is being taken advantage of. People will look at the passive communicator as a “weak link” per say and know that the person will not say no. It then turns into a snowball effect and the person continues to use the person repeatedly. This is not to say that this happens in every case, but it has happened to me. Over time I have had to learn to balance my priorities, and learn to say no.
Directive language is a type of language that influences or directs certain actions. As a boss I must use directive language more often. I must lead my team members, and it takes directive language skills to be able to do so. If I did not tell them what needs to be done it will never get done. To run a smooth work environment, you need to be able to use directive language.
A rhetorical device is dysphemism. Dysphemism is to produce a negative effect. This rhetorical device is used a lot right now, especially during the elections. Each party uses the dysphemism to make the other party look bad. It helps mold peoples minds about who they should vote for. Everyone has their own take on certain topics. As that person may read or see an advertisement on the television about a topic they do not support, that could persuade that person to support the other party.
Emotions and emotional intelligence I feel can have a positive or a negative effect on critical thinking. Your emotions could stop you from doing something irrational, but it could also help you choose to do something that later was a particularly good decision. I feel my emotions could have stopped me from opening my business four years ago. I was afraid, uncertain, and had nerves. I decided to put my emotions to the side and made a logical decision of going through with it. I know am running a successful business, now. I feel in that case even though I had emotions about going through with it, it turned into a positive outcome. Now let us say I didn’t go through with it, my emotions would have stopped me from making one of the best decision of my life.
